Tilbury Docks

The start of the great Inca Trail adventure began today with the delivery of the Landcruiser to Tilbury Docks. Colin, our co-driver, came up from Sussex to drive me back after the car was delivered to the shippers. We had decided to use the ro-ro service rather than a container, as this was considerably cheaper, though we were warned security was not so good. A risk I thought worth taking!

We met many of the other participants on the event that had been at the various HERO briefing days. I noticed that some of the cars had all terrain tyres as compared to our Pirelli road tyres. HERO hadn't mentioned we should change the tyres for tougher ones.

After about an hour we handed the car over and left for the return journey to South London.

London

The Landcruiser all kitted up and ready to go, parked outside our house in South London.
