Day 30 - Temuco to Puerto Montt

Another breakaway trip.

We headed for Puerto Montt to stay the night before the boat trip. We were to take John, the cameraman, in our car, but in the end he went with Lennox the Canadian. The Alpine scenery was attractive as we drove towards the Lake region. We thought we saw condors. We met the Moffatts and the Marklands and drove to Lake Llanquihue and into Frutillar. There were beautiful snow-covered volcanoes - one a perfect cone -rising above the lake. Me on the beach with the volcanoes in the far distance on the other side of the lake.

A happy group photo on Lake Llanquihue.

It is a very appealing town with German heritage and we had a good lunch in the Club Aleman. We arrived in Puerto Montt and checked into our hotel facing the sea. We went for a walk and did some shopping for the journey, then had dinner at the hotel, the Club Presidente.

We will sort out our bags, yet again, in the morning and buy some more supplies for the boat. I hope it will be a success!

Total distance - 228 miles
