Day 31 - Puerto Montt - Board Ferry for Chilean Fjords

The view from our window at the hotel in Puerto Montt.

We packed the car ready for the boat and I bought some Hush Puppies in Ripley's Shopping Mall. We drove to the port and had to wait ages to board.

The cars lined up on the quay waiting to board the ferry.

My co-driver having a smoke!

Tessa arrived unexpectedly. There was a market and we bought provisions, coathangers and a £5 alpaca sweater! It was raining quite heavily. Our cabins were small but adequate and we had dinner in the officers' mess - not bad. We embarked at 8pm. There are quite a few passengers on board, including many lorry drivers and backpackers. There are 9 of us in similar cabins: us, Colin, the Moffatts, the Marklands and Gae and Simon Gaul. The ship is the Magellanes. I hope we sleep well!
